    Dear clem

    For me you can be as old school as you like. I found that this really helped my back swing and follow through. You are a really great instructor and one of the few who seems to realise that we are individuals and us 60 year olds have to make allowances for our bodies and that we have to compromise on what our bodies can achieve.

    thanks for your good work

    Hi shawn, i agree a lot with your hip theory. Jim mclean used a lot of bad science to come up with his theories and although statistically correct, the theory is fallable. Sure there should be a stretch in the core to create speed, but like you said with bubba watson, this should occur more halfway down in the swing

    Yes, Kevin, of course! Sorry for the delay BTW;
    When this happens; ask yourself a very important question: Was your focus on the target and on letting the “effortless and powerful swat or whip” go in its direction? If not, what happens then is you DEFAULT to the ball and direct the energy there; the body stops getting out of the way because it is “ALREADY FACING” its target: THE DARN BALL! See a very important video I just loaded up called “Golf Pro lesson the insanity of golf” Shawn

    Shawn,
    I have your DVD and I watched all your YouTube stuff – its all great. I feel like my biggest struggle, from a sequence/transition issue is the right hand. I’m a right-handed player and it often feels like I let my right hand become too dominate in the downswing, often causing me to hit behind the ball. Any tips would be appreciated.

    Very important question! See “golf pro lesson downswing weightshift” and “golf pro lesson 2008 golf swing review” part 2;
    You will see what I mean!

    Same for me; right knee open surgery 20 years ago…see the “golf pro lesson get more power and club speed” very important for de-stressing the knees; see also “golf pro lesson head bobbing” Shawn

    See “golf pro lesson swing plane” and “golf pro lesson perpetual motion drill” for this; sorry for the late reply man!

    Hi Shawn,
    I am a right handed backhander, and I feel that I start too fast by turning my shoulders and pulling my right arm through the ball. I find it hard to let my arms fall and catch them halfway down by planting the right foot, because of this slow start, feels like im left with hardly any time to create speed.
    Any tips?
    And do you always let the right elbow bend on the upswing?
    Great video and i wish there were more for backhanders!

    hi shawn, my problem is that i cant get the hook out of my shot, and i had some surgery on my right knee so basically i cant keep my right leg straight its always an inch or so behind my left leg so is there a way for me to correct my swing because trying to correct my stance really puts a strain on leg

    Shawn – great videos and I’ve bought your DVD. Really good stuff, easily explained and not confusing. Does this information for lefties also pertain to Righties? I would assume yes. Keep up the great video and explanations. -Mark

    Hey Shawn I have been watching your videos for a while and have found them helpful. My question is if you have the body type of a Craig Stadler.Should I have a flat or upright swing plane?

  13. clemshaw Says:

    Thanks for the great comment Bourge17! We had it right 50 to 100 years ago and all we had to do was continue on this train and perfect and polish it! It is so anatomically correct! See “golf pro lesson learn your golf machine” for a great illustration of what I mean;
    All the best! Shawn

  14. Bourge17 Says:

    Shawn,

    Thanks for this video. I have been struggling with my game and a close friend, an excellet golf coach, tried to convert me to the no-hip-turn swing. I shank every time and just cant get it right. I’m now back to this “old school” swing and am getting back to hitting solid shots. Thanks for the lessons and great instruction.

    Shawn,

    Nothing has fixed my shanks, thin/fat shots, hooks/slices more than finding a way to finish my backswing. Rolling the feet is so amazing! Thanks for the tips.

    Fantastic video! Can’t wait to put lesson to use. Look forward to viewing other videos! Want to improve my game and this looks like a great avenue! Thanks,

    Thanks for all your excellent videos! You have done more to improve my game than any other teacher I have ever had.

  18. guitgod1 Says:

    Hi Shawn, love the videos. I notice you are using an iron for this video, when you are hitting a driver or a fairway wood it seems to me like that plant of your front foot and “whipping action” would cause your swing plane to become too steep. Is this the case or is there a different technique to use when hitting longer clubs? Thanks!

  19. clemshaw Says:

    Yes!
    See the “golf pro lesson tilted spiral” part 1, 2 and especially 3!
    Then see “golf pro lesson modern driver part 1 and 2″
    Your target perception is what is off…

    Hey Shawn, first of all great videos! I really enjoy them! Now to my question/problem: I started to golf just last year and with the start of this season I have one huuge problem. Nearly EVERY tee shot goes to the right. I really can’t help it. I’m a lefty, fyi. Is that some knd of common problem? What can I do/On what do I have to concentrate to hit my shots straight again? Thanks in advance for just any idea, best wishes from Germany!

  21. clemshaw Says:

    Hey bud; first see the “golf pro lesson proper weight shift” then you will see the “Golf Pro Lesson 2008 golf swing review part 1 and 2″ to see the 2 schools of thought here which are both valid; you can either go the way of the “one leg swing” which comprise the “tilted spiral” part 1,2 and 3 videos or the “bilateral swing” method which allows you more freedom with the range of motion provided by allowing the heel to lift in the backswing; Shawn

  22. cnutz25 Says:

    I have always read that you should feel like your all your weight is on your right foot at the top, (for right handers). Now my instructor and in some of your other videos you say you should feel the weight and brace in your left leg with a full hip turn. Which is also new becuase i always restricted hip turn. How can i feel the weight and brace in my left leg while lifting my left heel off the ground?

  23. DoraKuhn Says:

    It’s only backhander if you hit the opposite of your strong hand.

    Vijay is a righty backhander.

  24. clemshaw Says:

    Hey Cass;
    I know you have heard it a million times but keeping the head down is the worst thing you can do for your swinging action; maintaining forward posture through the shot is what you are looking for and here is the video you want to watch: “Golf Pro Lesson Don’t Keep your head down!” part 1 and 2; Then see my “Golf Pro Lesson Feet together drill” video to start putting things together; the ultimate would be to get my DVD series as it has all the info in priority sequence…Shawn
