Golf Swing Improvement Secrets To Stop The Insanity

Posted on 28 April 2010 by admin

Golf swing improvement can be elusive for most golfers. I have
read many articles and studies on the huge number of golfers
quitting the game every year. They are tired of putting in the
time, buying equipment, taking lessons, and purchasing every
golf training aid on the market only to see no golf swing
improvement.

You can’t fault a frustrated golfer who experiences the above
and quits. Life is too short to spend 5 hours on a golf course
and not enjoy it.

Let’s discuss why this happens!

First off, golf swing improvement should be approached from the
inside-out. That means starting with your body. If your body has
physical restrictions, you won’t ever be able to make a
repeatable golf swing with any power or accuracy. It’s a
physical impossibility.

You can try-and-try, but it won’t happen!

You body dictates your golfing ability. Like in any sport, raw
talent is hard to come by and is only for a small percent of the
athletic community.

Do you feel like you should be a better golfer? How many times
have you walked off the course in disgust…knowing you should
have played much better? This is a common occurrence and one
that can be fixed quickly.

The right approach to golf swing improvement is one that looks
at your current golf swing faults and the ‘physical’ reason
behind it. I see this all the time. A golfer takes a lesson; the
instructor tells the golfer what he needs to do; and the golfer
can’t do it!

What a frustrating situation!

For every swing fault, there is an underlying ‘physical’ reason
why it keeps happening.

Let me give you one of many examples to substantiate the above
statement.

You are a slicer. That means you come “over-the-top” with your
upper body. Do you want to know one of the many reasons why this
happens?

Here goes!

You have poor core strength and flexibility.

If your body cannot initiate the downswing with the lower body,
especially the hips rotating; it is because your core muscles
are sending a message to your brain saying, “we can’t do this,
so figure out another way (compensation) to get me back to the
ball.”

Now the upside to this scenario.

You work on your core rotational strength and flexibility. You
don’t hit more balls. You don’t add more swing thoughts to your
swing. You don’t do drills at the range til your hands are
bleeding. You just improve your core. That’s it!

The result?

You are able to initiate the downswing with your lower body,
create and retain stored energy in your core area, and you not
only stop your slice, but you add 30 yards to your drives!

That’s golf swing improvement the right way!

Again, this is just one example of a golf swing fault; and the
cause and solution to eliminating it forever.

Now golf is fun again!

So when you think of playing better golf; take a new approach to
your golf swing improvement

5 Golf Swing Tips for Instant Improvement!

Posted on 27 April 2010 by admin

Did you know that a few simple golf swing tips may be all you need to avoid hitting those slices, hooks, or fat shots? One simple change such as moving the ball position may fix that thin shot that you keep hitting off the tee.

Today, it’s very easy to find a good place with good golf magazines or books. Spending an afternoon in the sport section of your local book store can give you free valuable golf tips. Here you can find golf swing tips from professionals or teachers and coaches of professional golfers. Books and magazines with the latest golf swing tips can also be found online.

Here are 5 simple but very powerful golf swing tips that cover the golf swing basics.

1. One of the most important golf swing tip is to keep your club face square. Striking the golf ball with a square club face will allow it to fly straight and far. You need to maintain a consistent golf swing plane in order to keep your club face square. Take the golf club straight back and then following through on the same swing plane.

2. Timing is essential when it comes to your golf swing. Do not take the golf club back slowly and then accelerate down through your swing. A consistent swing speed throughout the entire swing is the key.

3. Golf fitness is another important factor for improving your golf swing. A few simple flexibility and strength exercises can change your whole golf game.

4. What about your golf grip?. Do not keep your golf grip too tight, it will hinder your golf swing movement. One way to determine if you were gripping the golf club the wrong way is if your hands or arms ache after playing golf.

5. The very best golf swing tip may not be what you want to hear, but practice, practice, practice, is what will ultimately improve your game. The more determined you are to practicing, hitting on the driving range or practice green, the better your golf swing will get. I have followed these basic golf swing tips and they have helped me cut my handicap by 12 strokes.

Golf Swing Improvement – Super Tips That Work For Your Golf Swing Now

Posted on 26 April 2010 by admin

It’s important to remember, your golf swing is what drives your score; not your clubs or ball. Most golfers don’t know that eighty percent of the world’s golfers have a handicap of 18 or more. When you’re playing golf badly it isn’t a lot of fun.

Overall, you generally want to play golf with confidence. If you’ve hit with your golf driver perfectly once, you can do it every time; the subconscious mind knows the correct number and sequence of muscle contractions and nerve impulses needed, called muscle memory. Visualize where you would like the ball to land, as you swing.

As the body matures, the ability to rotate the upper torso is affected by age, and the hand action can also slow down requiring a slightly stronger grip. Make sure to use the proper technique. At the end of a swing, the weight has shifted almost entirely to the left foot, the body is fully turned to the left and the hands are above the left shoulder with the club hanging down over the players’ back.

Standing over the ball for too long a time and wondering whether you’re going to swing the club correctly can easily result in a skewed shot, or completely missing the ball. Use the muscles in your legs and trunk when you swing. Putting can become a nightmare and a condition called the ‘yips’ has affected not only amateurs but professionals as well; get expert advice and consider a golf swing aid.

Before you swing, make sure you’re relaxed; contract all your muscles tightly for a moment and then relax them. After the ball is hit, the follow-through stage consists of a continued rotation to the left. Ask your golf pro to evaluate your posture while swinging. Swing slowly and steadily using a nice rhythm. Use the basic ‘hitchhiker’ position when you’re working on your backswing.

It’s no secret; most of the professional players actively participate in workouts. You can get rid of shoulder problems with some simple techniques. Don’t underestimate the value of fitness when it comes to your golf swing and your overall golf game.

Keep in mind that with some golf swing aids, you may still need advice or help from an expert. Overall, investing in aids will greatly improve your golf swing and your golf game. There are aids that will help you with swing alignment.

Look for golf swing aids at your local golf course. You can find aids that will help you with your wrist and arm position. There are golf swing aids that act as driving range simulators.

Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just starting out, pick just one aid and go to work on your swing. Golf swing aids come in all shapes and sizes including apparel type accessories to correct alignment or a golf club add-on accessory to monitor your swing. Before buying any aid, check with an expert to get an idea of what problem you need to work on first; backlift, momentum of downward thrust or stance for example.

If you’re looking for an aid to improve your stance they’re not hard to find. In any case, stick to just one aid at a time; don’t load up on them.

When you play a round of golf, concentrate on improving your swing, putting or something specific that day; have a plan in mind. If you’ve hit with your golf driver perfectly once, you can do it every time. Now is the time to fix that golf swing forever.

Super Golf Swing Improvement Made Easy

Posted on 26 April 2010 by admin

Most golfers don’t know that eighty percent of the world’s golfers have a handicap of 18 or more. Finding ways to improve your golf game, then applying what you’ve learned and practicing, is the number one way to get ahead of the game. Even the guys who play golf for a living and get the best golf instruction in the world still struggle to improve their golf; and they practice each and every day!

Visualize where you would like the ball to land, as you swing. Always be aware the mental aspect of the game contributes one way or another to the difficulty of the golf swing. If you’ve hit with your golf driver perfectly once, you can do it every time; the subconscious mind knows the correct number and sequence of muscle contractions and nerve impulses needed, called muscle memory.

As the body matures, the ability to rotate the upper torso is affected by age, and the hand action can also slow down requiring a slightly stronger grip. It’s difficult for a golfer to practice hitting shots longer than short pitch shots unless one pays to play golf or pays to practice at a driving range or indoor golf training facility. After the ball is hit, the follow-through stage consists of a continued rotation to the left.

One of the problems that most inexperienced golfers share is they think too much about their swing. Putting can become a nightmare and a condition called the ‘yips’ has affected not only amateurs but professionals as well; get expert advice and consider a golf swing aid. Try not to grip the club too tightly.

Accomplished golfers purposely use sidespin to steer their ball around obstacles or towards the safe side of fairways and greens. Make sure to use the proper technique. Many golfers who are strongly left-handed in their daily life prefer the right-handed golf swing.

Swing slowly and steadily using a nice rhythm. The most important thing about the golf swing is the angle and not the strength that’s applied to it.

Using some simple tips, techniques and stretches, you can increase your drives by up to 20 yards– practically overnight. Conditioning your golf muscles will reward you with straighter swings. Hold a medicine ball and turn back and forth; it must be rotational to improve your driving distance.

Sporting goods stores have golf aids to improve your game. If you’re a golfing novice just starting out, it’s easy to become overwhelmed. Golf swing aids come in all shapes and sizes including apparel type accessories to correct alignment or a golf club add-on accessory to monitor your swing.

Be careful about the claims on TV commercials and magazine ads; seek expert advice before you buy because they may not live up to their claims. Aids can be found online and are often cheaper. Look for aids at your local golf course.

Overall, investing in golf swing aids will greatly improve your golf swing and your golf game. Keep in mind that with some aids, you may still need advice or help from an expert. Ask an expert, who is not associated with the shop you would buy your golf swing aid from, for advice on the right aid for you. There are a number of good golf swing aids on the market today. There are aids that will help you with swing alignment.

Try to concentrate on one golf swing weakness at a time. There are hundreds of useful golf tips to seek out in golf magazines, consumer magazines, sports magazines, in books, ebooks, DVDs, online and offline. Take as many private lessons as you can afford with a good golf pro.

Golf Swing Improvement – What You Can Do Now

Posted on 26 April 2010 by admin

It’s important to remember that your golf swing is what drives your score; it’s not your golf clubs or ball. If you’re like most golfers, you desperately want to improve your game, not just hack around the golf course willy-nilly. Still many golfers do play golf just to hack around and have some fun but the more avid players are always looking for ways to improve their golf swing and their overall game.

First of all keep the good positive energy flowing and don’t give in to any negative thoughts. Don’t worry about what others say about your swing; work to improve it at your own speed. A common mental error golfers make when driving the golf ball is to hit it as hard as they can. Understanding the golf swing is one of the first steps you can take toward improvement.

The back swing is a simple rotation to the right, consisting of a shift in the player’s body weight to the right side, a turn of the pelvis and shoulders, a lift of the arms and flexing of the elbows and wrists. The most important thing to remember about the golf swing is the angle, not the strength that’s applied to it, which is one of many of the secrets to a great swing. Have a little faith in your golf club to do the job it was intended to do.

Swing slowly and steadily using good rhythm and biomechanics. Sidespin happens when the clubface is not properly aligned perpendicularly to the plane of the swing. Putting can become a nightmare and a condition called the ‘yips’ has affected not only amateurs but many golf professionals. Get expert advice from the pros and consider a golf swing trainer.

Accomplished golfers purposely use sidespin to steer the ball around obstacles or they head toward the safe side of fairways and greens. Putts and short chips are ideally played without much movement of the body, but almost all of the other golf shots are played using variants of the full golf swing. Many golfers who are left-handed prefer the right-handed swing.

When you swing, use the large muscles in your legs and trunk and if you have problems with your left knee buckling imagine holding a volleyball between your knees.

Many golfers should exercise but don’t. Do turn to golf exercises if you want more strength and power. Workouts with straight crunches will not improve your swing or driving distance though. Instead concentrate on weighted rotational exercises. The proper swing is mostly rotational so it really makes sense to concentrate on your turning ability as it relates to the range of motion and speed. Try using a weighted club so you can make rotational swings to improve your power.

Overall, investing in golf trainers or aids will greatly improve your swing and your game, many say. But it may or may not work for you. If you’re looking for an aid to improve your stance they’re easy enough to find. There are lots of good aids on the market today.

Golf swing trainers and aids can often be found online and are often much cheaper. They are often available for sale at most pro shops or local golf shops. There are a wide range of aids and golf analyzers on the market today to help the beginning and advanced golfer improve swing techniques.

There are aids that’ll help you with your swing alignment. Make sure to look for golf swing trainer reviews and ratings online or offline for any you’re considering. In any case, stick to just one aid at a time.

Now get out on the driving range with all your custom golf clubs, golf bag and other equipment as often as you can. Buy some golf videos or DVDs and some golf swing software if you’re so inclined and commit yourself to a time to practice what you’re learning. There are hundreds of free and simple golf tips in consumer and sports magazines, in golf books, ebooks, software and DVDs online and offline. Finally it’s important to just try to relax and enjoy the game. Practice, practice, practice and you’ll get the perfect, super golf swing!

Why Does Golf Swing Improvement Have Many Plateaus?

Posted on 26 April 2010 by admin

Superior athletes who never make it big are seen in ALL sports. We all have heard countless stories about gifted athletes who never made it big because they weren’t willing to put the time in needed to reach their innate potential.

I learned an astounding golf secret about golf swing improvement from a zen master. Zen Master Dogen Zenji frequently spoke about the “four horses,” which is a metaphor used by the Buddha in the Samyuta-Agama sutra. The path to golf swing improvement is described most eloquently by the metaphor of the four horses.

The first horse, the superior class, is like a horse that runs fastest by merely feeling the whip’s shadow. The second horse, the good class, runs fastest when the whip brushes its hair, the hair of its mane. The horse that runs fastest when the whip touches its body is the third class of horse – or the poor class. And the fourth, the lowest kind of horse, is the one who runs fastest only when the whip can be felt to the marrow of its bones.

At first glance we all want to be like the first horse in the superior class. These are the fast learners – the ones who seem to be a natural. Dogen Zenji says this may not be so desirable. A study of master golfers has shown that it is not the students with innate natural abilities who have achieved golf mastery. The golfers who have achieved mastery are mostly the students with average to below average natural abilities – the ones who have practiced their craft diligently. This is very interesting – why is this so?

Many plateaus in golf skill levels accompanied with short bursts of golf swing improvement is the path to golf swing mastery for all students.

When the first class of student takes up golf they see an immediate spike in golf swing improvement and are very motivated. When they reach that ultimate first plateau where their golf swing does not improve despite hard practice, most gifted students get discouraged.

Gifted students are used to seeing fast progress, so they may blame the golf instructor or something else just so they don’t have to put in the hard work that is needed to continue along the path to golf swing improvement – and the ultimate goal – golf swing mastery!

Many superior students will then give up the game of golf due to frustration.

Superior athletes who never make it big are seen in ALL sports. We all have heard countless stories about gifted athletes who never made it big because they weren’t willing to put the time in needed to reach their innate potential.

The fourth class of student will see a slower rate of golf swing improvement, much time spent on plateaus in their golf swing skill level. If the fourth class of golf student stays with it and practices hard they will learn the golf swing to the marrow of their bones, like the fourth horse.

Before you can master the golf swing, you need to learn the golf swing to the marrow of your bones. To learn the golf swing to the marrow of your bones you need to stay at each skill level for however long it takes. Most first class students never learn the golf swing to the marrow of their bones because it comes easy to them. The time spent on plateaus for golfers who learn fast are shorter than the ones who learn slower.

The enigma of the parable of the four horses is we must learn the golf swing like the fourth class of horse to become like the first class of horse – or the superior class – to become a master golfer!

Hit ‘em Long and Straight!
