Good advice but I think that you will save a lot of frustration by taking a lesson(s).. why? because a second set of eyes is needed to pinpoint exactly what YOU are doing incorrectly. There are several variables involved here and what you do to cause a shank could differ from another golfer with a similar problem

  2. martinavizcomm Says:

Pincing the club too hard with the right hand thumb & index finger also causes a shank…

I saw this guy at the Troubadour. He was awesome.

  4. rdwall0686 Says:

I agree with this. I have really been working on my swing lately and what i do is I start my swing from the ground up. I start turning my hips first and let gravity and my body rotation bring my arms down and it has proven very consistent for me.

  10. ugibomb Says:

are you people retarded? a shank is not a slice. jesus christ.

  11. ugibomb Says:

a shank is NOT the same as a slice dumbass

  12. Oldyoungdude Says:

ANYTHING beats a SHANK !!! So just try this and see if it works for you. Also remember to finish with your belt buckle towards the target.

  13. oiltownguyy Says:

True his cure for a slice does work great but this. When you start doing extra movements in your golf swing your just asking for trouble.Best advice I ever got was this.Think only about keeping your left arm completly straight on backswing, then just think about turning your hips and let arms follow on the dowswing, nothing more like turning your hands and stuff

  14. oiltownguyy Says:

THIS IS BAD BAD BAD ADVICE

  15. jomayor Says:

why people hatin on this, it is a good fix for the shank and does work. LOL at turn it over EEARRLLYY though

  16. keestelpro Says:

    Nope
He just wants you to able to control your golfswing.
If you know how to turn a slice into a hook, you could also turn a hook into a slice, or choose to hit a ball straight

  17. MENACER321 Says:

Make your shanks to the right (aka slice) into a nice hook? why would you want to go from slicing to hooking, they are the same thing in the opposite direction! Why don’t they just give tips on how to hit it relatively straighter.

  18. Parizeau21 Says:

LOL so we cure the slice and the shank by turning our right hand over earlyyyyyyyyy.

I’m sure this guy use to play 79-84-92 in the mini-tours and finish dead last most of the time b/c of his snap hooks. And now he has to make shitty video like this to feed his family.

  19. holdem300 Says:

Thanks for trying to help, but let me give you some advice. If I could turn my hands over at will I’d be able to work the ball anyway I want and wouldn’t be having my current problem of shanking the ball.

  20. realizedsk8r Says:

turn ur right hand over? are we trying to do a draw shot?

  21. joelcoe9 Says:

what an idiot…that is not the main reason people shank the golf ball. Its coming too far from the inside or standing too close to the ball.

  22. trumpetharmonica Says:

    Hí Golfers
Shank(=socket)problem came from a backswing who is to FLAT, it must be more upright!
