5 Ways To Improve Your Golf Swing

Tip # 1: Maintain your balance


Before hitting the ball, it is vital that a player is well balanced. Initially, your entire body weight should be distributed evenly between the heels of your foot. Once you start swinging, make sure that you make yourself ready to transfer your weight from the back to the front foot. In the middle of the swing, you should feel your weight transferring from the back foot to the front foot. At the point of impact with the ball, the front foot should carry most of your body weight.


Tip # 2: Grip


Make sure that your grip is neither too tight nor too loose. A proper grip allows a golfer to maneuver them to a perfect shot. Don’t forget! Your hands should never move during a swing. Go back to the nets, if you ever feel even a slight movement of the grip. New golfers may find it difficult to adjust in more humid condition. To evaluate yourself, you should stand straight with a natural stand. Bend down a little, as you normally would, to hold a club. Tip # 4: Let your head move


It is a myth and one of the most misunderstood statements in Golf when your instructor says, “let the head stay still”. It just means that your head should not be swinging like your club swings. It is important to learn that your head will always and should always move a little, while you are swinging. A rough idea is that your head should not move two inches in the direction of the swing. If you can maintain a natural posture while swinging, it doesn’t matter how much the head moves. Anyone telling you to keep your head still is wrong. Period! It is simply not natural and doesn’t support the movement of your hips.

Golf Swing Sequence – What Is It?

Most experts say there are 3 parts to the golf swing sequence, but there are actually 4 parts. It is the first part that seems to get left out of most golf instructions, yet is a very important part of the sequence. This part is called the set up.


When you are performing the set up, your feet need to be shoulder width apart as well as parallel to your target. Your ball should be opposite of your left heel with the face of your club aiming at the green. You might try using the shaft of your club to mark a straight line from your ball to the hole. Choosing something like a mark on the turf or a piece of grass that stands out can serve as a marker. Once you have this worked out, you can line up your club face to the marker you chose.


The next part of the golf swing sequence is the back swing. This is a very important part of the full golf swing. It is so vital to get this part right because if it isn’t correct at this stage, then the rest of the swing sequence will be off, making for an appalling drive. This part of the swing sequence needs to be on body rotation along with club and arm extension.


The next stage, called the downswing, begins with the hips and legs instead of the arms. Your knees, thighs, and hips should begin to move forward, shifting your body weight from the back to the front. Following this form is the correct way of performing this part of the golf swing sequence.


The final step is impacting the ball. Your body weight should fall on the outside of your forward heel and the inside of your rear foot. There is no other correct way to follow through on this stage.


The only way to get your golf swing sequence down the right way is to perform some exercises that are golf specific. These will strengthen the right muscles. You need to be aware that the golf swing, in general, is not a natural body movement. This is why it is so hard to do it the right way. If you have a favorite professional golfer that you like, try watching him or her and mimic the moves you see. That can be a rather effective way to find your own way of doing things.

Four Factors That Affect Your Golf Swing

Every person has his or her own unique body with its own elasticity, strengths, and range of motion. No two individuals can ever have the same golf swing in the game of golf. Even if two people have nearly the same body type the way one person swings a golf club may differ totally from another person. All golfers must realize the playing style that suits them to get to the results they want to achieve.

There is one thing that can make golfers produce spontaneous and sure advancements on the green and that is an acknowledgement of the elements that influence the golf ball at the time of impact by the golf club. This understanding of the factors and how they influence the ball would guide you to know what takes place when the golf club hits the ball, and through that calculate the flight of the golf ball.

It is dependent on the fusion of four factors which will ultimately decide towards what direction and to what length the ball will roll. Factor 1

The first direction the ball will take is settled by the horizontal angle of impact.

Factor 3

Then again, the sweet spot of the ball must be hit by the clubface for the best impact. The sweet spot is the region on the golf club’s face that will shift the pressure of your golf swing to the golf ball. If the angle of the clubface and the club head at the time of impact is perfect, then shifting this pressure with all practical purposes will heighten its capacity to the fullest and carry the ball straight and a long distance down the course.

Factor 4

The club head at the moment of impact is the fourth and the last factor. The speed of the swing of your golf will decide how much force you shift to the golf ball and finally to what distance it will go when you impact it on the sweet spot. Muscles do not determine the power or the speed of the golf swing by themselves. Body flexibility and range of motion are other elements that affect how a golfer utilizes those muscles in making a even consistent swing.

Improve Your Driver Golf Swing With Drills

Trying to improve the swing of your driver but you’re not 100% where to start? This is a symptom of bad balance through your driver golf swing if you have trouble keeping the quarter balanced.

For some it will be easier if you already have good balance. If you do have difficult stop and practice this drill until you develop the balance to be able to swing and not have the quarter fall off.

Drills aren’t the same as the game itself but they are a must to drop your handicap and improve your score each round. If you invest the time in drills and practice you’ll be repaid multiple times over as you watch your score drop round after round.

Even if you play golf as a hobby, you’ll always need to be concerned with correcting golf swing problems. There’s nothing more rewarding than noticing that you’re scores are getting lower. You’ll gain more confidence and feel better about your game.

Here are some simple tips for correcting golf swing problems.

Keep Your Eyes Open

When you go golfing with friends, watch them. During the first few holes, check out everybody and see who’s the best player. Don’t worry about all your own slices and mistakes; find out who’s the best in the group and study their moves.

You’d be surprised what you can learn just by watching others play. If you don’t get out to play as much as you’d like to, watch pro golf on TV. Instead of thinking about how impossibly good the players are, watch what the do and pay attention to their technique.

Watch Yourself

Watching the video back, you might notice that your posture is a little awkward, or your address a little off. You can watch different shots and see how consistent your set-up is. You can see the angles from the outside, and you can even compare your swings with those of your favorite golfers.

Just remember to erase them when you’re done. There’s no reason to keep an archive, and let’s face it, it’s a little weird to have a hundred videos of yourself practicing golf!

If you’re not into the audio-visual side of things, practice in front of a mirror. This will help too, and you can practice your “Nice shot!” face.

No More Slicing

The most common problem with most golfers’ swings is the dreaded slice. The slice is basically when the ball goes veering off to the right of where you meant to put it (of the left, in the case of lefties).

If you slice a lot, you are probably swinging in too much of a downward motion. In other words, your swing plan is too steep.

Try flattening it out. If you flatten it out too much, the ball will start veering to the left (or the right, in the case of lefties). Try to find the right balance between too-steep and too-flat, so that the ball goes just where you want to put it.
